Show More The postgraduate MSc in Information Technology programme, from University of West of Scotland, is professionally recognised by the British Computer Society. It is designed particularly for those who have a degree in a non-I.T. area, and who wish to develop modern I.T. skills and knowledge. This training course can be taken either at our Paisley campus, near Glasgow, or off campus, full-time, part-time, and by distance learning, enabling students to study at a time and place to suit work and other commitments. Current business identifies the need for IT professionals who have excellent teamwork, analysis and project management skills, and who can design, deploy and utilise business-relevant IT systems and services. The postgraduate IT programme will help satisfy this need. The programme seeks to widen and deepen students’ understanding of modern IT-based business systems; address related development, acquisition and employment issues of such systems in modern organisations; and introduce business concepts that will enable them to appreciate and implement strategies by which information technology can be managed and utilised fully. Successful postgraduate students are able to re-orient their career towards the IT industry or re-engage with the profession of their first undergraduate discipline having added relevant IT and business knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion, students will be able to develop, acquire and deploy information technology based systems in a variety of business settings. Understanding the business context and driving business case is key to the successful implementation of IT solutions in business organisations. Entry RequirementsApplicants should have a degree from a non-computing background or equivalent professional qualification and experience. Students from a business, social sciences, arts, sports science, engineering or science background are encouraged to apply to this IT programme. Students possessing an Ordinary degree can apply to enrol on the Postgraduate Diploma and, on successful completion, transfer to the MSc programme. Other Fees |

Inclusive Education MastersUniversity of the West of Scotland - United KingdomUniversity of the West of Scotland's online/distance learning Masters in Inclusive Education (MEd with exit points at Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma) is a part-time qualification aimed at teachers and... Show More University of the West of Scotland's online/distance learning Masters in Inclusive Education (MEd with exit points at Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma) is a part-time qualification aimed at teachers and other professionals teaching and/or supporting learning in mainstream schools or other inclusive educational settings. Aligned with the UNESCO mission statement for Inclusive Education and with the Scottish Teacher Education Committee’s Framework for Inclusion, this UWS programme takes inclusive education to operate within the equality and human rights legislative context, aiming to remove barriers to learning and participation, and to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage for whatever reason. With increasing diversity in society being reflected in the classroom, where children and young people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse abilities and needs learn together, we believe that it is becoming progressively more important that teachers and other professionals working in mainstream schools or other inclusive educational settings develop appropriate responses to diversity, and, through this master's programme, we aim to support them as they strive to make all learners feel included, and to provide for them learning experiences that are relevant and accessible. There is no requirement to attend ‘face-to-face’ sessions on this innovative programme as it is offered by distance learning, using the UWS's virtual learning environment. Materials are supplied online and the system allows access to both electronic journals and e-books. Participants are required to contribute to weekly discussion threads on themes relevant to the modules (twelve threads per Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma module), and to complete assigned assessment tasks (two formative and two summative assessment tasks for the first module, and one formative and one summative assessment tasks for subsequent Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma modules). Entry RequirementsMost participants on this programme have a degree level teaching qualification (minimum degree requirement: Bachelors/ordinary degree) and work in mainstream schools or other inclusive educational settings. Applications from interested professionals without a teaching qualification are considered on the basis of a Bachelors/ordinary degree in a relevant area and some demonstrable experience of working in mainstream schools or other inclusive educational settings. The following are considered to be relevant areas: Psychology; Social work; Community Learning and Development; Speech and Language Therapy; Occupational Therapy. A Bachelors/ordinary degree in an area that is not included in the above list will be considered if a substantial part of it focuses on child andadolescent development; learning theory; and/or pedagogy. Evidence of this is required in the form of transcripts and confirmation from a referee. Applicants whose first language is not English must support their application with evidence that they meet the English language requirements set by UWS. The following additional requirements apply: Evidence of English proficiency must be up to two years old counting back from the anticipated start date of the programme. If the applicant has been working or studying in an English speaking country for a substantial period of time, this can be taken into consideration as long as a statement to this effect is included in his/her references. If the applicant has studied at degree level (Bachelors/ordinary or above) in an English speaking country for a period of one year or more, this can also be taken into consideration as long as the programme was taught and assessed entirely in English and was undertaken in the last two years counting back from the anticipated start date of the programme. Relevant transcripts must be provided as evidence of this and a relevant statement must be included in the references. Other Fees |
