Show More This Masters has been developed in consultation with industry; graduates will have the confidence to develop new ideas and implement real measurement systems, making them of considerable value to industry. Instrumentation professional must be equipped to understand the principles and implementation of instrumentation, the importance of efficient and reliable measurement and control systems and have a suitably wide perspective of the subject area so that a number of different approaches to a problem can be identified. This programme covers measurement science and control theory, practical experience of data acquisition and instrument networking, and analysis of systems for condition monitoring, fault detection and control system design. The programme is structured around case studies and builds knowledge that is instantly transferable. The programme will include core modules and a project which can be industrially based. Distance learning students cover all the material away from the University and will be provided with a comprehensive study pack for each module. Students are required to have access to a minimum specification of IT equipment (details on request). Support for all distance learning students will be provided via a managed learning environment, telephone, e-mail and fax. Students will normally study up to four modules per academic year and, after completing the eight taught modules, will proceed to the MSc project. The structure is flexible, however, and distance learning students can choose to complete any number of modules depending upon their circumstances. Students are advised to complete the programme within five years. The MSc project will be carried out at the student’s workplace. This can be in an area relevant to the company’s production/maintenance function, thus providing maximum benefit to both the company and the individual. Other Fees |
