This program is a rigorous and individualized program that accommodates the previous experiences, education, and interest of each degree candidate. 1. The master of science in electronics and computer technology (MSECT) is a 32-credit-hour (minimum) program. 2. The program includes a focus or concentration in instrumentation, systems, and automation. 3. The program can be completed in two years (full time). Students also have the option of part-time study.
4. The curriculum sequence includes three program phases: Entry RequirementsApplicants must satisfy the following minimum requirements: 1. Hold a baccalaureate degree granted by a regionally accredited institution 2. Have completed an undergraduate major in computer technology (hardware) or electronics
3. This master's is offered entirely online to assist elementary and early childhood teachers who wish to improve professional competence and meet licensure requirements. Completion of this degree qualifies the student for one of the following: 1. The Indiana Professional License in Elementary Education, provided the student holds the standard elementary license and has completed five years of teaching experience; or 2. The Indiana Professional License in Early Childhood Education, provided the student holds a standard license and has completed five years of appropriate teaching experience. 3. Representations on licensing apply to licensing in the state of Indiana only. Potential students seeking licensing in other states should check with that state's educational licensing authorities on their requirements. Further restrictions may be found in the state specific information under the program availability link. In addition, the literacy concentration may lead to Reading Teacher Certification. Prior to enrolling, students should contact their state's certification office to determine if this program meets their state's requirements. This 32-credit-hour program may be completed in 18 months of full-time study if the student begins in summer and follows our recommended sequence (summer: 9 credits; fall: 6 credits; spring: 6 credits; summer: 11 credits). Students do have the option of extending the program should they choose a less aggressive schedule. The University allows part-time students to take up to seven years to earn the degree, although the program is typically completed in far less time. The master of arts (M.A.) degree program provides an excellent background for students who intend to continue their studies toward the doctorate. Students who intend to pursue doctorates in history are strongly encouraged to pursue this option.
2. The master of science (M.S.) degree program is designed for students pursuing professional careers, including practicing high school teachers and individuals pursuing careers in law, theology, business, social work, politics, government service, journalism and writing—or specialized work as a museum curator, librarian, archivist, editor, historic site specialist, and research historian. 3. Both programs are sufficiently flexible to permit students to develop courses of study tailored to meet their individual needs and interests.
