The degree ensures you have an advanced knowledge of agronomic systems and superior problem-solving skills. The computer-based program, begun in 1998, emphasizes practical, professional, and technical skills involved in crop management, soil and water management, and integrated pest management. The curriculum consists of 12 3-credit courses, a 1-credit practicum, and 3 credits of creative component, for a total of 40 credits. Students will be required to travel to campus twice. The first visit will be halfway through the program to attend the practicum (3-4 days), the last week in July. The second visit is at the end of the program, to present the creative component for the final oral exam. The program prerequisites include undergraduate coursework in Algebra, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, Crops and Soils. Generally, students who have completed a degree from a College of Agriculture will meet the requirements. Students who do not have the undergraduate coursework will need to complete any missing prerequisites before starting the program. Management Techniques Students may join the program at the beginning of any semester and may take graduate courses in any order at a pace that suits their needs. Classes are delivered online by digital video streaming. Students may choose the day, time and location to observe the class lectures allowing for maximum flexibility. Entry RequirementsAdmission requirements for the Construction Engineering and Management program are an undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program and a GPA of 3.0. Alternatively, applicants may enter the program by taking prerequisite courses. These include most of the courses that would be found in a typical construction engineering degree or civil engineering degree with a construction emphasis. Students can enter the graduate program while they are satisfying prerequisite requirements. Admission requirements and prerequisites can be relaxed for construction professionals with engineering degrees and five or more years of experience. Such modifications will be made on a case-by-case basis by the admissions committee.
