The curriculum provides a breadth of engineering science and design with depth in one specific area suitable for practice. This knowledge is augmented with an understanding of business practices, organizational behavior and management skills to enable the graduate to succeed in the management of a scientific or engineering operation. In addition to the diverse career opportunities available in engineering management, graduates are provided with a foundation of strong management skills. Graduates will also acquire a deep understanding of current management and leadership principles and will understand the business ramifications of their designs and their improvements. Academic bridges have been built to ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business allowing our undergraduate students to take foundation courses in accounting, finance, economics and management. Every course addresses a different issue in where theoretical approaches, analytical methods and industry practice are unique to the food industry. Such industry-specific skills and understanding cannot be obtained in a traditional business degree.
