The M.Ed. in Counselor Education program has three concentrations based on an applicant’s educational background and career goals. Entry Requirements1.Complete requirements for a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. 2. Present a cumulative 2.50 (4.0 scale) grade point average or higher on all undergraduate and graduate work combined. 3. Present official report of scores on the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) (http://www.MillerAnalogies.com) or the verbal, quantitative and analytical writing sections of the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) (http://www.ets.org/gre). 4. Submit complete Counselor Education Supplementary Documents (available in the online application for admissions. 5. We understand that furthering your education is just one part of your busy life and that work, home and family are also important to you. Students attending our program receive a well-rounded education of face-to-face and online courses as well as field-based training via projects in schools beginning early in the program. This program will provide you with training to serve children and adolescents with learning, behavioral, or emotional problems in educational settings. After successful completion of 78 credits for the Ed.S. degree, you are prepared to be a licensed/certified school psychologist in any state. Professional entry-level in the field of School Psychology in Georgia requires Professional Level Six (S-6) Certification which you are eligible for after successful completion of the prescribed Ed.S. Program of Study and a passing the GACE examination in School Psychology. Graduates who choose to practice in other states must review the state’s specific requirements and required exam scores for licensure/certification. Throughout this program, you will receive practical instruction that will culminate in a yearlong, full-time internship as a school psychologist. • Direct care of individual patients The eight-semester D.N.P. program is designed to fit the busy schedules of full-time nurses, building on Georgia Southern’s outstanding record in graduate nursing education. Through the D.N.P., you can also be prepared for a career as a nurse educator. The D.N.P. program is fully online with the exception of a week-long on campus intensive that occurs annually each summer. Entry Requirements1. Education: a. Post-BSN: Bachelor’s degree in the proposed field of study (BSN) or its equivalent from a college accredited by the appropriate accrediting association. (Note: post-BSN, and RN/BSN, RN/MSN students must complete all MSN courses prior to beginning the DNP curriculum.) b. Post-MSN: Master’s degree in the proposed field of study (MSN) or its equivalent from a college accredited by the appropriate accrediting association. 2. Minimum undergraduate or graduate GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale) 3. Satisfactory GRE or MAT scores a. Official scores from the GRE (General Test) or MAT (Miller Analogy Test), taken in the last five (5) years.
