Show More The online Learning & Cognition (L&C) MS degree program is designed for students and professionals interested in learning, cognition, development and group processes in a variety of contexts, such as the classroom at any level, government, private enterprise, nonprofits, and other organizational settings. The purpose of the program is to produce graduates who have knowledge of a wide range of theories applicable to learning and cognition processes, insights into ways to effectively support human learning, and skills to critically read and evaluate research on learning. Those interested in research positions or pursuing a PhD are encouraged to complete the thesis track (only available face-to-face) rather than the exam track option. Entry RequirementsApplicant's must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while registered as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree. GRE test scores should be in the 50th percentile for the verbal exam, the 20th percentile for the quantitate exam, and a minimum of 3.5 on the analytical writing. If English is your second language, the TOEFL is required. The TOEFL target scores are 575 for paper-based and 90 for internet-based. Show More The Master of Science in Special Education Studies is designed for practicing teachers who wish to expand and/or update their knowledge of special education and/or to increase their ability to teach learners who experience disabilities. This degree program is appropriate for individuals with degrees or teacher certification in special education, early childhood education, elementary education, or middle or high school education. This program is not designed to meet teacher certification requirements of any state. The program provides specializations in: severe disabilities (The severe disability courses are designed to meet the requirements for Florida's Endorsement in Autism and Endorsement in Severe or Profound Disabilites), early childhood special education, (Early childhood special education courses are designed to meet the state of Florida's requirements for the Pre-K Disability Endorsement and the Infant/Toddler Developmental Specialist certification), or high incidence disabilities. High incidence disability courses emphasize instruction in academic areas and access to the general education curriculum for learners with disabilities. A minimum of one required course is offered each fall and spring semesters; and two required courses are offered each summer. In addition, specialization courses are offered each semester. Practicing teachers may register for up to six semester hours fall and spring semesters.
