Show More UNC-Chapel Hill's Master of Public Health in Occupational Health Nursing program will prepare you for a leadership role in occupational health nursing. The interdisciplinary, practice-based curriculum includes core public health courses, occupational health nursing core courses, occupational health nursing functional role courses, occupational health science interdisciplinary courses, and practica. The courses in the online Occupational Health Nursing program are the same courses offered by the on-campus program, but you take your courses online. In addition to your online coursework, you must participate in two, one week on-campus sessions typically held in late summer. The distance program replicates the classroom experience by using Web-based courses consisting of lectures, discussion forums, group and individual assignments, papers, and exams. Regular UNC-Chapel Hill faculty design and teach your online courses, with some adjunct faculty approved by the program. You will stay in contact with your instructors, participate in classroom activities, and complete all the same work as students studying on campus, as required and on time, but you will do it from your computer at home. The master of public health degree is usually a terminal degree, but qualified students may proceed in the School of Public Health to a DrPH or Ph.D. program. The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. and the Council on Education for Public Health.
