Students pursuing this major will take classes in fitness, nutrition, healthy eating, stress management, and the cultural and political aspects of health and healthcare. Students will interact with faculty and professionals who have devoted their lives to teaching and promoting positive lifestyles. The program also emphasizes community integration through nonprofit and for-profit organizations, which provide opportunities for internships. The school falls under the banner of ASU's College of Health Solutions, in the School of Nutrition & Health Promotion, a uniquely interdisciplinary research organization. The multifaceted nature of the program provides students with many skills translatable to almost any industry within the healthcare market. Rehabilitation, community outreach and numerous other private institutions need skilled healthcare professionals, and the breadth of the major only increases a graduate's job opportunities.
