Show MoreMake a difference in children's lives with Primary Education In this course, you'll learn how to encourage young children to learn and become the best they can be. Enjoy learning about education Primary education begins the process of learning that will continue through life - so this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills you'll need to teach in a primary school. You'll learn about the theory, practice and management of teaching, including the place and role of education, the characteristics of learners and the teaching-learning process. You'll also learn about the curriculum taught in schools today to prepare you for the profession of teaching. Specialise in an area of interest If you're passionate about a particular area of teaching, you can combine your degree with a minor area of study. For example, a minor in Inclusive Education could lead to working with children who need more personal attention, or a minor in Drama could help you promote how the arts are important in a primary school student's life. Graduates are recognised by the Western Australian College of Teaching (WACOT) as well as the respective State, Catholic and Independent school departments, organisations and associations. Show More Explore the meaning and value of the Christian tradition Understanding religions is becoming increasingly important if you seek to understand your own society. Religious and political issues shape the internal and external policies of Australia and our neighbours. While religion is sometimes perceived to be the source of tension and conflict in our world, it is also a source of good. If you wish to understand the world, you must understand the religious motivations that govern or influence people's behaviour and their perceptions of the world. As a student of Religion, you may come from any faith or none. You will explore in an open-minded manner the beliefs by which people live and explore the different approaches to the fundamental questions of human existence. Why study Religion at Murdoch? A major in Religion at Murdoch provides you with an excellent range of critical, analytical skills. You are also encouraged to adopt a multicultural and multidisciplinary perspective on vital aspects of human social structures and interactions. As such, a Religion major is an excellent basis for careers in public service, diplomatic service, education, non-profit organizations, multi-faith chaplaincy, and museums.
