The Flexible Science programme converts current on-campus undergradute science courses into online courses.

Students are not limited to the online material, but are welcome, whenever they are able, to join on-campus students in lectures, tutorials or practicals, making this an ideal study solution for those working in the off-shore industry or with other work or family commitments.

Students can take individual courses or can acculmulate credits by building up passes in a number of courses to qualify for the awards of Certificate and Diploma in their chosen subject.

The Flexible Master of Arts courses are designed to introduce part‐time students, who cannot attend day‐time classes, to Arts and Social Sciences subjects. Harnessing the latest lecture capture technology, you can access University lectures through the Internet while still attending traditional tutorials in the evenings either face‐to‐face in Aberdeen or via web conferecing.

Using lecture capture technology, lectures to full time Archaeology students are recorded and made available for viewing via the web. Tutorials for those studying by flexible learning are held by audio or video conferencing in the evenings. Students can either attend face to face with the tutor in Aberdeen or be connected from home. Those taking the flexible Archaeology courses are welcome to attend lectures and excursions alongside full time students. For those unable to attend excursions or practical sessions with full time students, alternative exercises are provided.

Christian & Religious Studies is a part-time distance programme of courses designed for those who are training for roles in the Church and those who have a general interest in religious questions.

Credits for years two and three are made up of 210 credits from the DR/RS/KL courses at levels two and three with at least 60 credits at level 3 plus 30 credits of choice, as agreed upon by the adviser of studies.
