Show More Computers and computing devices are now so embedded in our lives that almost everyone uses them with experience and competence. But relatively few people have the knowledge and skills to design and construct the systems we all rely on. This course gives you that Our program will give you a deep understanding of the fundamentals of IT and computer-based systems. We offer units across the full IT spectrum - from non-technical areas like the organisational needs of IT to the technologies required to satisfy those needs to the skills to create and implement computer-based systems. You'll learn in a creative faculty that has used 3D modelling and 3D animation to preserve Australian Indigenous languages and recreate the medieval city of Angkor in Cambodia. Our flexible degree allows you to tailor your studies to suit your requirements and interests. You can take units across a wide range of IT topics or focus on one or two majors. Student Trent Rebeiro chose a multimedia major because he enjoyed animating and producing digital content in his spare time at high school. He now runs his own web development business, Southern Pacific Digital. Graduate Janet Saw came from Malaysia to study the course in Melbourne, which she says offered a whole new way of learning and allowed her to study independently. She went on to complete an honours degree. If you're a high-achieving local student, you can apply for the Industry-Based Learning (IBL) program to complete a 22-week placement in your second or third year and receive a scholarship of up to $19,000. The course consists of six core information technology units, eight units of further IT-related study, one pair of industry experience or studio project units and eight open electives. If you're selected for an IBL placement, those units will replace your industry experience or studio project units and an elective.
