Online Nursing Degree :: Accredited Universities

Welcome to the Master of Nursing program, a 33-credit degree open to nurses with an undergraduate nursing degree. Our courses will prepare you to assume a leadership position in the health system. As well, you will learn to discern emerging trends, anticipate future health care directions, and provide leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating nursing practice, drawing on philosophical considerations, nursing theory, research methods and various tools of analysis.

Entry Requirements

• By the application deadline, applicants for admission to both streams in the MN program must be graduates of a four year Canadian (or equivalent) baccalaureate degree program in nursing from an accredited/recognized university, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) in their final 30 credits of graduate or undergraduate study.
• MN:NP applicants must have obtained recently, a minimum of 4,500 verified hours of full-time equivalent work experience as a registered nurse prior to application (Statement effective July 1, 2011). Applicants without a BN or BScN are not eligible to apply to the MN:NP program.
Non-program students must meet the following application requirements:
• A four-year health-related baccalaureate degree from an accredited university
• A minimum of two years recent full time professional health care experience
• Students seeking to refresh their preparation must hold a Master of Nursing and a recognized Nurse Practitioner Education program.
• Students seeking to add a Family All Ages designation to their Nurse Practitioner license must hold a Master of Nursing and an active Nurse Practitioner license.

• Successful completion of a degree program at an accredited post-secondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction; proof that the instruction for the degree was in English may be required;
• A grade of 70% or higher in an Athabasca University undergraduate or equivalent level English course that is recognized by the faculty/centre;
• Successful completion as a non-program student of a number of Athabasca University courses as determined by the faculty/centre;
• Most recent official score, taken within the last two years, of any of the following:
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and obtain a minimum score of 550 (on the written test) or 80 (on the Internet-based test);
• International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and obtain a minimum score of 6.0;
• Michigan English Language Battery (MELAB) test and obtain a score of 80;
• Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) and obtain a minimum score of 60.

BSc (Hons) Nursing (Diploma to Degree) programme is an honours degree intended for Registered Nurses who have already completed a three-year programme of study at Diploma level, normally within the last two years in England or Wales. You will receive written and verbal feedback throughout your programme to help keep you on track. On successful completion of the programme, you will be awarded with a BSc (Hons) Nursing.

The Online RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at American Public University System is designed to facilitate the immediate and lifelong professional development needs of Registered Nurses who earned an associate degree in nursing and have a current, active license as a Registered Nurse. Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the curriculum reflects current nursing practice and the Institute of Medicine recommendations for nursing education.

The program focuses on the development of the professional nursing role in three primary areas: Practitioner, Scientist and Leader.
