are registered as a nurse with NMBA with no conditions relating to unsatisfactory professional performance or unprofessional conduct; and

have completed a bachelor degree in nursing, at this or another University; or hold equivalent qualifications; or submit, as an exceptional case, other evidence of appropriate professional attainments including professional experience in nursing

This advanced, highly flexible course is designed to get ambitious registered nurses where they want to be - whether that's filling a senior role as a multi-skilled all-rounder, a specialist in a variety of clinical settings, a healthcare researcher, educator, manager or policy leader.

You can study by all coursework or combine coursework and a minor thesis. The all-coursework options may include a choice of a specialist or generic study pathways.

The specialist pathways cover the options in which our School of Nursing and Midwifery Berwick, Clayton and Peninsula campuses specialise including advanced medical surgical, paediatric, critical care, emergency, disaster and emergency management, aged care, palliative care, mental health, primary health care, refugee health and nursing education.

This course will enhance your professional career development, preparing you for advanced clinical practice with individuals, families, groups and communities.

Nursing theory and research, as well as professional role development, are integral to this course which focuses on the development of the multiple roles of the clinical expert.

You will complete a specialist stream in child and adolescent health nursing, domiciliary nursing or general nursing. All streams focus on the development of leadership, critical thinking and clinical decision making.

All streams also incorporate an individual health project which you will complete under the guidance of one of our experienced staff.

Our domiciliary nursing stream is also available in Singapore.

Entry Requirements

A bachelor degree in nursing or equivalent, plus registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and at least one year of post-registration clinical experience.
Applicants with a degree in a relevant field may be considered but will be required to undertake additional units to develop essential nursing knowledge and skills.
You must have successfully completed appropriate research units in your undergraduate degree.
You will also be required to provide supplementary information with your application.

This Coursework course is designed for Registered Nurses wishing to continue their professional and academic development to advance their leadership, research, teaching or administrative roles. Successful completion of this higher degree involves coursework and the completion of a project.

Entry Requirements

a) Prospective students must provide a certified copy of their current nursing registration. Although a relevant Bachelor degree is generally required, Registered Nurses with a hospital-based qualification will be eligible for enrolment at the discretion of the course coordinator, after assessment of relevant prior education and/or experience;

b) A minimum of two years post-registration full-time nursing experience;

c) A certified copy of the prospective student's proof of identity containing a photograph is required (for example a passport or driver's license).

Students are required to provide:
a) The names of two referees; and
b) A copy of the prospective student's current curriculum vitae demonstrating a minimum of two years full-time clinical professional nursing experience; and
c) overseas applicants must provide evidence of proficiency in the English language (e.g., IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 550).

The course coordinator maintains the right to approve all evidence for admission.
