Show More The Bachelor of Science in nutrition communication combines writing and journalism skills with an expertise in health-related topics. Growing public demand for health information has created a need for communicators with a thorough understanding of health and nutrition issues. Offered through ASU’s School of Nutrition and Health Promotion, this program trains students to be expert reporters of health and wellness topics. Students in this program will have an advantage over traditional journalists by receiving training in nutrition assessment and evidence-based nutrition practices. The nutrition communication program includes a broad range of course topics taught by expert faculty, such as nutrition, human anatomy, writing and statistics. The curriculum provides a well-rounded skillset for disseminating accurate and in-depth information. Graduates of the nutrition communication program will find employment opportunities within a variety of areas, including print and online newspapers, magazines, and other publications, as well as private corporations and community and healthcare agencies. Positions may include writers, journalists, public relations representatives and program or product development consultants. Entry Requirements

Individual Review All students who don’t meet the above standards will be evaluated through a process called Individual Review. Submission of an ACT or SAT test score is highly recommended. In some cases, additional information might be requested.

Entry RequirementsThere are no special requirements beyond those that qualify you to study at University. Students beginning their study in AgriScience should have a sound background in Chemistry and Biology at NCEA Level 3, and if possible Mathematics (with Statistics). In addition having NCEA Agriculture and Horticulture at Level 3 is an option that will ensure a smooth transition to University study. However, if you do not have a background of Chemistry at the Year 13 level then you can take 123.103. Introductory Chemistry, extramurally through Massey University over the summer before your first year of full-time study. This paper will introduce you to basic chemical vocabulary and provide training in the important chemical principles. You do need to already have a university entrance qualification, or to expect to obtain one by sitting NCEA Level 3 at the end of this year.
