Entry Requirements

1. Graduation from a high school with a grade point average of 2.5 (or above) on a 4.0 scale.

2. A rank in the top 50 percent of the high school graduating class.

3. An ACT composite standard score of 18 or above, or a combined score of 1270 on the SAT.

Liberty University Baptist Theological Seminary’s online Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling — Addictions and Recovery program prepares students to serve in the local church in nonprofessional counseling roles, as well as in other ministry settings.

In this program, students learn to treat addictions, along with overseeing the recovery process from a Christian worldview. Courses will cover the diagnosis and treatment of substance and sexual addictions, the biological aspects related to addictions and recovery, and the treatment processes.

Graduates of this program are prepared for a variety of positions. This degree may meet the requirements to serve as a military chaplain or assist students seeking professional licensure; however, licensure requirements are not completely met through this program.

The purpose of the American Government concentration is to educate students who have a passion for government and public policy, so that they are equipped with the competencies necessary to think biblically and to perform skillfully in the public vocation to which God has called them. Specific competencies include learning and understanding our government's legal foundation and the major branches of government. Optional competencies include national security affairs and campaign management.

M.A. in American Government graduates will be able to:

- Study the impact of Judeo-Christian values in U.S. political history, structures of the U.S. Government and the influential thinkers who guided the U.S. experiment.

- Study the components of a Christian worldview, and compare these components to the philosophical underpinnings of competing worldviews.
