Through a disciplined study of the past, learners are given an orientation of the complexity and diversity in the world, to meet the competitive demands of a global economy.
Course Content The program introduces the study of history as a scholarly discipline. Portraying continuity and change, public history offers deep insights into culture and community. It transcends the world beyond classroom teaching. The curriculum focuses on interpreting the past through museums, historic preservation and heritage tourism. Scholars use the techniques of applied history to create museum exhibits, conserve artifacts, and interpret material culture. Learners are exposed to the field of museum studies and material culture to understand the relationship between objects and society. Public history engages a broader audience with the past through experiences outside the classroom. Learners are given the opportunity to experience the discipline through 120 hours of fieldwork in a structured setting, to develop hands-on skills and observe public history in practice.
