Show More Mississippi State University’s Department of Curriculum, Instruction, & Special Education and Center for distance Education have collaborated to offer a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with either an Early Childhood or a Middle School concentration through distance learning. We would like to welcome you to take a glance into the program where all the courses are ONLINE. You can start the teacher education program in the fall or spring semester. If you have core classes to take, you can start those in the summer.

- The program allows you to complete your field experiences and student teaching internship at an elementary or middle school in or near your hometown. - You will take part in field experiences that let you learn in preK-8 classrooms prior to taking over your own classroom. - Many of your courses will be taught by full time MSU faculty. - Your courses, assignments, and requirements will parallel the on-campus program, which means you earn the same degree you would get on campus. - You will take part in innovative and engaging education courses that provide you with the most current and evidence-based practices. - Your framed diploma (with maroon mat, of course) will look awesome displayed on the wall in your future classroom! Entry RequirementsTeacher Education programs generally have the following admission requirements: - Minimum 2.75 GPA on 44 hours of coursework (including the 36-hour core) - Cumulative GPA of 2.5 - Grades of C or higher in English Composition I and II and in your college Algebra, Quantitative Reasoning, or other higher level math course - An SAT score of 860, OR and ACT composite score of 21 (with no subset below 18) OR the following Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators scores: Reading — 156, Writing — 162, and Math — 150 - Verification of 40 hours of work with children/youth - Two recommendations from educators - Completion of a Licensure Advisory Form and a Dispositions Advisory Form - Submission to a Criminal Background check Other Fees |

It provides teaching professionals with the opportunity to identify and assess children with exceptional needs and design intervention strategies by adapting and/or accommodating instruction. Developed to meet all Wisconsin state and Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) standards, the program provides rigorous, comprehensive courses including opportunities for field experiences. Graduate students entering the program with an initial teaching license may choose to earn only their Wisconsin Special Education licensure, their Master of Science in Education with a focus in Special Education by including a research component or earn both their Masters of Science in Education and their Wisconsin Special Education License. Students seeking licensure in a state other than Wisconsin should check with their state regarding licensure requirements.

Show More The Master of Science in Special Education Studies is designed for practicing teachers who wish to expand and/or update their knowledge of special education and/or to increase their ability to teach learners who experience disabilities. This degree program is appropriate for individuals with degrees or teacher certification in special education, early childhood education, elementary education, or middle or high school education. This program is not designed to meet teacher certification requirements of any state. The program provides specializations in: severe disabilities (The severe disability courses are designed to meet the requirements for Florida's Endorsement in Autism and Endorsement in Severe or Profound Disabilites), early childhood special education, (Early childhood special education courses are designed to meet the state of Florida's requirements for the Pre-K Disability Endorsement and the Infant/Toddler Developmental Specialist certification), or high incidence disabilities. High incidence disability courses emphasize instruction in academic areas and access to the general education curriculum for learners with disabilities. A minimum of one required course is offered each fall and spring semesters; and two required courses are offered each summer. In addition, specialization courses are offered each semester. Practicing teachers may register for up to six semester hours fall and spring semesters.
