Electronic health records (EHRs), provider order entry systems and diagnostic technologies are just a few of the IT solutions being implemented by today’s health care industry. The use of electronic information plays a role in reducing medical errors and decreasing costs, ultimately leading to happier healthier patients! But the systems don’t run themselves. Ensuring that health care systems deliver timely and accurate information, in the correct format, while meeting regulatory requirements, these complex technologies are increasing educational demands on the individuals assigned to develop, implement, and maintain this data. Regis University’s Master of Science in Health Care Informatics and Information Management (MS-HIIM) program is designed to meet these growing educational demands. The MS-HIIM program is designed for current health care professionals looking to expand their knowledge of systems implementation, work flow design, systems planning, security management, and electronic health information management. Beyond IT, the program also includes curriculum focused on project management, leadership development, ethics, and managing digital information, all taught from the health care perspective. Two graduate level prerequisites exist for individuals without health care experience. Entry RequirementsADMISSIONS CRITERIA - ELIGIBILITY A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale or a satisfactory score on the Two or three years of management experience in a health industry setting with exposure to health care systems is strongly recommended. If English is not your native/first language, you must meet the following language proficiency requirement: - TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – Internet-based: Minimum score of 82 (24 Writing, 20 Speaking, 22 Reading, 16 Listening) on the TOEFL.
