Admission to the Registered Nurse to Master in Nursing degree program is open to Registered Nurses who have successfully completed an associate degree or diploma nursing program. This degree is designed for students whose highest earned degree is the associate degree or diploma.

International applicants from non-English-speaking countries must show evidence of English language proficiency through one of the following options:

- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

- Required minimum score of 525 on the paper based test or 69 on the Web-based test.

- MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery)

- Required minimum score of 75.

Students complete foundational courses for the MSN, then gain additional knowledge in a concentration area through the completion of content-specific courses. Entry Requirements

- Have earned an undergraduate degree in a nursing program with an upper-division major in nursing from a regionally accredited or approved nationally accredited college or university, or have earned a comparable degree from a recognized institution outside the United States. Nurses who hold baccalaureate degrees in non-nursing programs from a regionally accredited or approved, nationally accredited college or university must successfully complete the University of Phoenix Nursing Bridge Program. This program enables nurses with baccalaureate degrees in areas other than nursing to complete three courses at the BSN level and then move directly into the MSN curriculum.

- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) as shown on the undergraduate degree posted transcript.

- Have a valid, unrestricted, unencumbered RN license from the United States in all states in which you hold an active license.

- Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or hold an approved, valid visa if residing in the United States.

- Not have been expelled from a previous institution.

- Complete all required forms for admission and submit an official undergraduate degree posted transcript.

International applicants

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program is designed for experienced nurses with a BSN degree who are independent learners and who want the convenience and flexibility an online program can offer. The MSN degree requires a minimum of 36 credits consisting of different combinations of courses: core, direct care core, electives, specialty, and Practicum. Two years experience in nursing is recommended and a BSN degree from an accredited program is required.

Three areas of nursing specialty are offered: Nurse Educator, Nursing Informatics and Nursing Administration.

The Nurse Educator program prepares graduates for teaching roles in healthcare and academic settings. The Nursing Informatics program prepares graduates to function as a nursing informatics specialist. The Nursing Administration program prepares graduates for the role of nurse administrator in healthcare settings. A certificate in the selected area of specialty is awarded along with the MSN degree.

In addition to the MSN degree outcomes, the graduate of the Nursing Informatics Program will be able to:

- Integrate knowledge, skills, and scientific findings from nursing science, computer science, information science, and cognitive science in the professional practice of nursing informatics.

- Analyze the concepts of, and relationships between data, information, knowledge and wisdom for implications to nursing practice.

Entry Requirements

- All applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a GPA of at least 2.75 is recommended
