Show More The Education Specialist in Early Childhood Education is a fully online program designed for those who are currently certified at the master’s level and who are seeking the opportunity to grow and develop professionally as transforming educators. Throughout the program students will gain a greater depth of knowledge relating to issues of diversity, curriculum assessment and development, theory and research, and pedagogy. Students will also develop expertise in written and oral communication skills which will prepare them to advocate more effectively for young children, their families, and the community. Successful completion of the program will lead to eligibility for an upgrade of the candidate’s teaching certification to a T-6 certificate by the Georgia Professional Standards Committee. As part of the program, students also have the option to earn a GAPSC approved endorsement in Reading, ECE Math, ECE Science, or ESOL. Accomplished faculty, individual attention, cohort program format and technological support are all hallmarks of this Ed.S. program and enhance the learning experience. The Tift College of Education collaborates with principals, teachers, human resource officials and other community members to ensure the relevancy of the Ed.S. program to classroom practice. Students are admitted to the program twice a year during the summer (May) and fall (August) semesters.

To achieve a greater depth of knowledge relating to issues of diversity, assessment, curriculum development, theory and research, instructional technology, content, and To develop expertise in written and oral communication skills, enabling more effective advocacy for young children, their families, and the community To use knowledge of professional resources, inquiry, and research methods to grow professionally and gain advanced knowledge to support the practice of teaching and life long learning Entry RequirementsTo be eligible for the Ed.S. in Early Childhood Education program, applicants must hold a master’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on all graduate work attempted. Also, they must possess or be eligible for a master’s level certificate in Early Childhood Education.
International applicants The TOEFL or IELTS is required for international applicants whose primary language is not English.All international students whose native language is not English must submit a Certificate of Proficiency from the Mercer University English Language Institute (ELI) or results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and Certificate of Proficiency from English as a Second Language (ELS) Language Center. The minimum acceptable TOEFL score is 550 for the paper-based test (PBT), and 80 for the internet-based test (IBT). English proficiency at ELS Level 112 is expected.
