Throughout the program, candidates strengthen their knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to working with children from birth to eight years of age. Graduates of the program will be eligible for Louisiana initial teacher certification in grades PK-3 and will meet the requirements for becoming a “highly qualified” educator. The Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education, Grades PK-3, is comprised of 39-semester hours of graduate coursework, including a one-year Internship in Teaching. Candidates must present a passing score on the PRAXIS II pedagogy test prior to enrollment in the Internship. Courses are offered 100% online.
