Show More This course provides an opportunity for registered pharmacists to develop and enhance their skills and qualifications in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice research. Being a flexible education program delivered online, the course is particularly suited to pharmacists from rural and remote areas, with limited access to formal educational programs. The course will equip registered pharmacists with the fundamental knowledge and skills to enhance career opportunities as a clinical or consultant (accredited medication review) pharmacist, and perform expanded professional services that are being developed in Australia and overseas. Completion of the Master of Clinical Pharmacy will also prepare candidates for enrolment in a Research Higher Degree program. Entry RequirementsStudents are expected to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Tasmania or another university or tertiary institution that is deemed equivalent, and will be registered pharmacists. Where an undergraduate degree has been recently obtained (within past 3 years), a minimum average grade of 60% obtained in the final 2 years of study would be required for entry to the Master of Clinical Pharmacy program. Appropriate post-graduation work experience of at least 2 years will also be normally considered as a requirement for acceptance into this program. Proof of a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and registration as a pharmacist is required with applications. Show More The course is designed to enable students to establish skills in evidence-based practice, quality use of medicine, practice-based research, and provision of clinical pharmacy services at a high level. Areas of study include biostatistics, epidemiology, theory and practice of evidence-based medicine, interpretation of clinical data and pharmacotherapy and clinical research. Each student will complete a four-week speciality rotation with an experienced clinical preceptor and will carry out a small practice-based research project. Students must arrange the necessary time release from their employer to complete the placement and research project. The program is conducted online and via distance education. Entry RequirementsA bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in pharmacy. Registered as a pharmacist. Working in a clinical setting in an Australian or New Zealand Hospital. English language requirements. Applicants with a 4-year undergraduate degree will be eligible to apply at the end of their pre-registration year. Applicants should be practising in a clinical setting. Applicants with a 3-year undergraduate degree will be eligible to apply following their pre-registration year and a further period of clinical experience.
