Show More This degree builds on prior study to enable students to graduate with a three-year degree and it can form a pathway into our Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood). Students enter the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) at the third-year level and complete one year of study. A student's previous studies and work experience make up the first two years of the degree as advanced standing (also known as 'Recognised Prior Learning').
Entry RequirementsA candidate shall: 1. (a) have completed the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (HSC) or interstate or international equivalent; and (b) have completed a Diploma in Children's Services (or equivalent) that is approved by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) after completion of (a) above; and (c) have completed early childhood workplace experience comprising one year full-time (or equivalent) room leader experience after satisfying the requirements of (b) above or two years full-time (or equivalent) experience as a family day care accredited provider or an early childhood teacher assistant/aide or an accredited before and after school carer after satisfying the requirements of (b) above. OR 2. (a) have an Australian Year 10 qualification or equivalent; and (b) have completed a Diploma in Children's Services (or equivalent) after Australian Year 10 that is approved by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA); and (c) have completed at least five years full-time (or equivalent) early childhood workplace experience after satisfying the requirements of (b) above. Beginning in the fall of 2012, candidates may complete the minor coursework and the ESOL PRAXIS II exam; then apply for the ESOL endorsement from the Kansas State Department of Education. A teaching license at any level preK-12 must have already been secured or secured in conjunction with the minor to be able to add this endorsement to that license. Candidates who have previously earned an educational degree may add this undergraduate minor to their program of study up to two years following their FHSU graduate date.
