The Master’s Degree in Academic Writing Theory and Practice offers a new type of qualification aimed at graduates and professionals interested in studying, researching and teaching writing. The course focuses on writing, rhetoric and literacies research and on the ways this research informs the teaching of writing. The programme is based upon Coventry University’s international reputation in the teaching of academic writing at the Centre for Academic Writing.
As part of the programme, students can:

Facilitate academic writing for students and academics,
situate academic writing in English in a knowledge economy,
research academic writing, submit a portfolio of professional practice or a dissertation for candidate's MA degree project.

Entry Requirements

Successful applicants must normally hold a second class honours degree or equivalent. Any candidates with degrees across the Humanities, Social Sciences and (Applied) Sciences, and with an interest in academic writing, are welcome to apply,

applicants who can demonstrate relevant experience at an appropriate professional level but do not have the formal academic entry qualifications may also be admitted, subject to an application and assessment,

applications to the course are encouraged from all suitably qualified persons, irrespective of age, race, gender or disability. The applications and admissions procedure conforms to the University's policy on Equal Opportunities,

applicants who are not native speakers of English need to have a minimum of 6.5 in their IELTS test, with a minimum score of 6 in writing. Equivalent qualifications in English language proficiency may be accepted.

The online M.Ed. in Special Education: Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) is a 33-credit-hour graduate degree that serves experienced K-12 teachers who hold a minimum of a Standard Professional 1 (SP1) or initial teaching license. The program prepares these teachers to employ diverse and effective instructional practices to enrich, extend, and accelerate the standard curriculum for gifted students, and to be collaborative instructional leaders who are knowledgeable, effective, reflective, and responsive to equity and diversity for gifted students. Upon completion of the M.Ed. program, graduates will qualify for the North Carolina Standard Professional 2 (SP2) teaching license in Special Education: Academically or Intellectually Gifted. The online M.Ed. in AIG is a part-time graduate-level program delivered using Centra and Moodle.

There are two options for entering a master of business administration program (MBA) in the School of Business and Technology Management

Direct Entry: Individuals with a previously completed bachelor's degree in business from a regionally or nationally accredited academic institution may immediately begin the MBA program.

Evaluation Track: Individuals who do not meet direct entry requirements would begin their degree plan with SKS5000-8 prior to taking the remaining courses in their degree plan.

This unique program will equip you with the skills to conduct and analyse accident investigations based on knowledge and techniques appropriate to accident forensics in road, rail, air and industrial environments.

In a similar fashion to crime scene and accident investigators depicted on television, as an accident forensics graduate you will demonstrate advanced skills at systematically breaking down the factors leading to an accident and making the necessary findings and conclusions for prevention. You will also learn occupational health and safety principles.

A unique feature of the program is that you will carry out practical investigation exercises in a new, state-of-the-art crash laboratory at CQUniversity Bundaberg.

The Master of Accident Investigation (Specialisation) develops advanced level expertise in the investigation and analysis of the factors which lead to accidents and the interventions required to prevent their recurrence.

You will gain advanced knowledge and skill in effective accident investigation management of multi-faceted accident investigations utilising sophisticated analytical and problem solving methods.

This program will be attractive to those who have responsibility for accident investigations across industry and society. The program provides core studies in the principles of accident investigation, accident phenomenology, accident forensics, accident analysis, human factors investigation and the specialist domain contexts of aviation, rail, road and industrial. You will complete an applied accident investigation project based on a ‘real’ accident reconstruction at the university ‘crash lab’ and a three term capstone accident investigation or prevention research project.

The program has been developed in consultation with Australia’s leading accident investigation professionals across air, rail, road and industrial contexts, and the leading organisations and government authorities which inform public safety strategies.

Entry Requirements

To enter the Master of Accident Investigation (Specialisation) you must have:

A three year bachelor degree from an Australian university, or
professional (non-degree) qualifications or equivalent plus clear indication of relevant work experience and/or employment indicating a career in accident investigation, or
other relevant qualifications but working towards professional career development in accident investigation or related area, and who have had at least five years work experience.

When applying for entry without a three year bachelor degree from an Australian university you will be assessed by the Head of Program.

When applying for entry via this alternative approach you will need to provide evidence which shows the ability to:

write high level reports;
read and analyse academic literature, government policy texts and create detailed reports; and
complete high level numeracy tasks applicable to workplace situations.
