Show More The Master of Public Service Leadership is designed to develop the next generation of leaders for nonprofit organizations, faith-based and community-based organizations and local, state and federal government. The 36-credit program is offered entirely online and meets the accelerating demand for education and careers in public service, a broadly defined sector that includes government agencies as well as nonprofit, philanthropic and non-governmental organizations. The program has been developed in alignment with the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) standards for accreditation. Students will have the option of selecting one of the following areas of study, including:
Community and Economic Development The program has a competency-based curriculum focusing on advancing the knowledge, research and practice of public affairs that emphasizes theory, research and application. The program gives students an applied experience that provides an opportunity to apply what they learn to their actual work environments. Entry Requirements- All applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a GPA of at least 2.75 is recommended - Applicants to degree programs must provide a current resume with their completed application. - Applicants to degree programs must provide two letters of recommendation with their completed application. - All statements of background and goals must be completed and submitted with a completed application and will be evaluated critically and used to assess an applicant's ability to succeed in and benefit from the graduate program. - All appropriate essay questions must be completed and submitted with a completed application; all essays are evaluated critically and used to assess a student's ability to succeed in and benefit from the graduate program. - Three-to-five years of professional, managerial or related experience is required for all graduate degree programs - The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all applicants whose primary language is not English. Students enrolled in this course are familiarised with and develop an understanding of key issues surrounding and protocols related to research by and with Indigenous people. Research projects are drawn from both the requests of Indigenous community leaders, the involvement of academics in current research projects and community-led project and their subsequent related and independent interests. Special focus is placed on Indigenous people's engagement in the economic use and management of land and water resources, exploration of the policy environment within which Indigenous people operate, issues of language and culture maintenance and development.
