The Master of Public Administration (MPA) Online program is for active professionals preparing to advance their careers in local, provincial, First Nations and federal governments, as well as in non-profit and international organizations.
The program encourages students to explore theory and practice in both policy analysis and public management. Students acquire a mix of skills that create career opportunities as managers, analysts and consultants. Our graduates manage city governments, administer non-profit organizations, run large government ministries, and lead in the interface between business and government.

Entry Requirements

• You must have earned the equivalent of a "B" average over the last two years (or equivalent of 30 UVic units) of your degree to be considered.
• Practica, non-graded (pass-fail) courses, credit granted on the basis of life or work experience, or credit earned at institutions not recognized by the university will not be used in determining an applicant's grade point average or units completed.
• Any courses used in the calculation of the entering average cannot be used as credit toward a graduate degree program.
• Many academic departments require a higher average for admission to a master's degree.
• A baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree from another country) from a recognized institution
• A grade point average of 5.0 (B) in the work of the last two years (30 units) leading to the bachelor’s degree. Please note that individual academic units often set higher entrance standards.
• Satisfactory assessment reports
• The availability of an appropriate supervisor within the academic unit concerned
• The availability of adequate space and facilities within the academic unit concerned.

Applicants are required to provide the information necessary for the University record. This includes disclosing all post-secondary institutions where any course registrations were made, and if admitted, arranging for all final official transcripts to be sent directly to Graduate Admissions and Records. Applicants who fail to meet these requirements may lose transfer credit and/or have their admission and registration cancelled.
