Monash Engineering has a national and international reputation in the field of transport education and research built over 35 years. The Master of Traffic is offered by the Monash Institue of Transport Studies, a Key Centre of Teaching and Research in Transport Management. Students explore traffic operation issues such as traffic congestion, traffic management, road safety and intelligent transport systems. The program has been designed for those who work in traffic engineering, road safety, and civil and environmental engineering. Students who enrol in an additional four units in transport studies will be awarded both the Master of Traffic and the Master of Transport.

A Bachelor of Engineering degree, a three-year science or applied science degree with an honours year, or a three-year degree with appropriate postgraduate studies. Students can also articulate from the Postgraduate Diploma in Transport and Traffic.

The Bachelor of Aviation Technology is designed for those seeking a career in aviation, aerospace and information technology (IT) and attracts many students seeking positions within the aviation industry. The program will enable you to develop a thorough understanding of both theories and practices in aviation technology and explore the associated ethical, legal and security issues in this field.

Throughout the program you will study courses including aviation theory and cover topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft systems, air law, meteorology, navigation, pilot licences and ratings, air service operations, aerodromes, airspace classifi cations, air traffic control and flight service and handling emergencies. You will also develop sound knowledge in mapping techniques, aviation time, charts and publications, navigation computations, pilot navigation and radio navigation, the composition of the atmosphere, heat, temperature, pressure and humidity, atmospheric stability, clouds and precipitation and many other areas.

In addition to aviation administration you will study topics such as the aviation engine, turbo and supercharging, propeller systems, hydraulics, electrical and ignition, fuel and carburetion, flight instrumentation, lift and drag, aerial manoeuvres, stability and control, takeoff and landing, as well as flying techniques.

The second and third year of the program will build on the foundation of aviation technology and enable you to gain high-level expertise in both IT and business management. You will develop the skills you need to analyse problems critically and design effective solutions. Graduates are employed in non-fl ying positions within the aviation industry at both operational and management levels.

You may wish to exit the bachelor degree early and upon successful completion of a number of courses may be eligible to receive a Diploma of Aviation Theory qualification.

Entry Requirements

To be considered for a master's program at NJIT, you must have completed a four-year undergraduate program accredited in the United States or its equivalent and demonstrate superior academic achievement in an appropriate discipline.

We look for students who placed in the top half of their graduating class and department, with a cumulative GPA no lower than 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.

The GMAT is required for all applicants to graduate programs within the School of Management.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is required for all international applicants not holding a degree from a United States post-secondary institution. The minimum score required is 79 for the Internet-based TOEFL exam, 213 for the computer-based TOEFL exam, or 550 for the paper-based TOEFL exam. A minimum score of 6.5 with no sub-score lower than 6.0 is required for the IELTS exam.
