A conversion course enables graduates with non-accounting or partial accounting backgrounds to meet the academic requirements for membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK. The course focuses on contemporary knowledge and skills required for practise as a public or chartered accountant; effective management; accountability and control; and effective decision-making for financial success. Studies in the Master of Accounting (Professional Practice) will provide the technical and conceptual skills required to become a competent accountant, and will develop students' abilities to analyse, criticise and synthesise various accounting and related principles, methods and techniques. The skills and knowledge gained from this course will prepare students to be effective managers or financial analysts. Graduates find employment as accountants or financial analysts, and may increase promotional opportunities in their existing occupations. The course also provides the opportunity for professional practice experience and/or research and training in business communications.
Entry RequirementsSuccessful completion of a recognised bachelor degree in any discipline. Applicants who have fully satisfied the entry requirements of the accounting professional bodies in their first degree are not eligible for entry. Applicants who may have partially satisfied the entry requirements of the accounting professional bodies in their first degree are required to have their qualifications assessed by CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia to ensure that they will exit with the academic qualification required for accreditation by the Australian Professional Accounting Bodies.
