Show More The Master of Arts Degree by Research is a program of supervised research and study leading to the submission of a thesis which makes a contribution to knowledge. The program is governed by the Program Rules for Masters Degrees by Research, which provide details regarding all aspects of admission, progression, submission and examination of the thesis. Consultation with the university will assist you to determine eligibility for admission, to identify the proposed areas of research and to ascertain the availability of suitable supervisors. CQUniversity offers Masters Degree by Research programs in the areas of communication and media studies, human welfare studies and services, language and literature, law, master of arts, political science and studies and studies in human society. Entry RequirementsYou may be considered for admission to candidature for the Masters degree if you: hold an honours degree from the University or any other approved institution in a relevant discipline; or hold a three (3) year undergraduate degree and a graduate diploma at a high level of academic performance in a relevant discipline; or hold a three (3) year undergraduate degree at a high level of academic performance in a relevant discipline, plus a minimum of one year's relevant work experience; or hold a three (3) year undergraduate degree with a credit level Grade Point Average (GPA); or hold a four (4) year undergraduate degree at a high level of academic performance; or hold an alternative qualification deemed by the Panel to be of equivalent scope and standard. If you hold only a pass degree, and who do not satisfy any of those criteria specified above, you will be required to undertake a Masters qualifying/enabling program, normally of one (1) year's (full-time) duration, as specified in the University's resolution on Masters qualifying programs. The program is also designed for those who work in, or wish to work in, the public sector, in business, the community, or service organisations where an understanding of Indigenous Knowledges in the broader Australian and global setting is required. Depending on which of the Professional Majors students choose to undertake, knowledge and skills will be developed with the aim of enabling graduates to apply a critical understanding of: Indigenous Knowledges: Aboriginal cultures and societies and their relationships with Australian and international contexts across a range of social, economic and political settings. Australian Studies: current organisational and social theories in the analysis of Aboriginal issues as they intersect and operate within the context of contemporary Australian social and political systems.
