New Admissions: The program is designed for part-time students and can be completed in eight semesters. This concentration prepares nurses to assess communities, identify high-risk populations, and work with those populations to develop culturally sensitive, acceptable and realistic community-based nursing services. Graduates are qualified to sit for the exam leading to Board Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an Advanced Practice Clinical Specialist in Community Health Nursing. The program consists of 38 credit hours of coursework beyond the baccalaureate degree and 500 clock hours of clinical experience. All UNC Charlotte nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and are approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). All international applicants must take and submit scores for the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), with the exceptions noted below. The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 550 for the paper-based test, or a total score of 80 with a 19 on the speaking section for the internet-based test (iBT). Applicants with iBT speaking scores between 15 and 18 may be considered for provisional admission, which requires completion of specified remedial English courses ESL 114G (American Oral English for Academic Purposes) and/or ESL 116G (ESL/Composition for Academic Disciplines) and attainment of a grade of B or higher.
