Show More Combining internet-based learning for the academic portions of the program alongside internships arranged at convenient locations, the M.S.N. Case Management & Health Systems Administration program will appeal to ambitious working nurses who may be managing a number of work and home priorities. The graduate program in case management and health systems administration provides an integrated approach that promotes effective, collaborative utilization of clinical resources. Students develop clinical resource management skills that are strongly coupled with managerial skills. The current healthcare climate of rapid change in technology and patient care services, together with increasing implementation of managed care systems, requires healthcare professionals to seek mechanisms for enhancing quality while providing cost-effective care. Historically, quality and utilization management and nursing care management developed separately and functioned in isolation. But nurses focusing their professional efforts on case management cannot afford to do so isolated from the larger realities that drive the organization and, indeed, the entire healthcare continuum. It is essential for those involved in case management to have a thorough understanding of organizational structures and operations. Knowledge of the continuum of resources available within the healthcare delivery system and the community is essential. This program is ideal for those registered nurses holding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree who want to specialize in case management and health systems administration in a variety of settings. Graduates of this program, alongside the College’s other alumni, have gone on to become dedicated healthcare professionals all over New Jersey and beyond. In fact, it is estimated that every hospital in the state employs at least one Seton Hall nursing alum – but beyond that, our graduates impact the lives of patients in areas as far and wide as Florida, Arizona and even Iraq. These individuals range from nurse practitioners, to nursing directors and officers, to presidents and CEOs of healthcare organizations. Entry RequirementsThe following prerequisites for admission must have been achieved by candidates prior to admission to a Master’s-level program: - Graduation from a N.L.N.A.C. or C.C.N.E.-accredited baccalaureate nursing program with a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale - Completion of a basic statistics course and an undergraduate nursing research course. - Satisfactory Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score if native language is not English. - Proof of current licensure as a registered nurse
