The University offers an online bachelor of applied science (B.A.S.) in health services. This program is designed specifically for health professionals who hold an associate of applied science (A.A.S.) and are now ready to further their education and careers in the health care system.

Health Services is an interdisciplinary program that provides the knowledge and skills needed for management-oriented leadership positions. Areas of study include, but are not limited to, program planning and evaluation, management, finance and marketing, safety education, public health administration, and health biostatistics.

Students benefit from classes developed and taught by ISU faculty who have a diversity of specialties. All courses are offered online. On-campus visits are not required.

Entry Requirements

To be admitted to the online learning program in health services, the applicant must be admitted to the University as a degree-seeking student and satisfy the following:

1. Completion of an associate of applied science (A.A.S.) from a regionally accredited institution in a health-related program, including but not limited to: dental hygiene, health care support, health information technology, medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, neurodiagnostics, surgical technology therapeutic massage, paramedic science, and radiology.

2. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C average) in all college-level studies

Note: In some cases, individuals who have earned an A.A.S. in non-health related programs may be eligible for admission to the Health Services Program if they are currently working in a health services profession.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must have hold a bachelor's degree from a University-recognized institution.

If your undergraduate GPA is below 2.70 on a 4.0 scale, you must achieve acceptable scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Keller-administered admission test.

International applicants

Applicants whose native language is other than English must demonstrate English-language proficiency by providing evidence of one of the following:

- Submission of a high school diploma, or post-secondary degree or higher, earned at an institution at which the language of instruction was English.

- Submission of a post-secondary transcript verifying completion of 30 semester-credit hours of baccalaureate-level courses (excluding remedial and developmental courses) with at least a C (70 percent) average from an institution at which the language of instruction was English.

- Submission of an earned Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, 213 on the computer-based TOEFL or 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL.

- Submission of an overall band score of at least 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam.

- Submission of an overall score of at least 4.5 on the International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP) Academic-Plus exam.

Completion of either of the following, with a grade of B (80 percent) or higher, from a DeVry-approved post-secondary institution or community college:

- The equivalent of DeVry's freshman English composition course.

- Two or more baccalaureate-level English writing or composition courses.

- Documents verifying at least two years' service in the U.S. military.

- Having attained an acceptable score on a DeVry-administered English-language-proficiency exam.

A career as a health services administrator requires intrapersonal skills, knowledge of management and operations and the ability to juggle many tasks simultaneously. A Bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration will prepare students for the demanding role by focusing on practical information about the management of health services and facilities, finance and legal issues in a healthcare setting, disaster planning and management and information systems.

Students will learn how to handle job responsibilities including creating and implementing policy and procedures, hiring and supervising staff, controlling finances, ordering supplies, and coordinating plans and activities with those of other health care managers. Graduates of this degree program will be prepared for entry-level and assistant management positions in a variety of medical facilities. Clinical sites and healthcare facilities require background checks and drug testing.

Entry Requirements

Students may be conditionally accepted to the college if all admissions requirements have been received except for the official transcripts as long as a College official has been able to verbally verify the graduation status or receipt of the GED from the granting institution.

Once official transcripts are received, showing the minimum has been met, full acceptance into the college will be offered.

After acceptance into Bryant & Stratton College Online, students will have the opportunity to take English and Math placement assessments in order to test out of required pre-college courses.
