Show More The Bachelor of Education (Birth to Five Years) provides an innovative, relevant and rigorous program that prepares graduates for their continued engagement in the early childhood profession. Students develop an understanding of the importance of the early years and the educator's role in children's lives through a balance between strong practical skills and theory. This course provides a four-year early childhood teaching qualification in the prior to school area. The course recognises the knowledge, skills and abilities that students bring with them from previous studies and equips them with the skills required to maintain and extend their roles within this workforce. It promotes the principles of social justice and equity by creating opportunities for students to demonstrate an awareness of, and responsiveness to, community contexts and the personal and professional attitudes and values that encourage an optimistic, reflective and ethically sound approach to early childhood education, professional development and education. The on campus offering is available at Northern Sydney Institute Crows Nest Campus during Session 1 only. The distance education offering is through CSU's Bathurst Campus. CSU’s Bachelor of Education (Secondary Mathematics) – industry entry builds on knowledge and skills that students have previously acquired in their discipline area of mathematics. The course encourages students to develop discipline knowledge further and apply this knowledge to the context of secondary teaching. Students will develop an understanding of educational and curriculum issues in the area of mathematics and learn to effectively plan and implement for the teaching / learning process. Students will develop and employ effective behaviour management strategies allowing them to communicate and interact professionally with students, staff members, and the communities served by their school. Graduates of this course are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to teach Year 7 to Year 12 mathematics. They are able to use and develop professional knowledge and values, monitor and assess student progress and learning activities, and utilise appropriate teaching / learning technologies pertinent to their field. Entry RequirementsCompleted two years or more of an appropriate engineering degree with at least 2 units / subjects in pure or applied mathematics (including one Level 1 / first year and one Level 2 / second year (or above) maths subjects of which only one subject can be a unit of statistics) Two years or more of a degree in econometrics / economics / actuarial study where maths and applied maths are part of the program (including one Level 1 / first year and one Level 2 / second year (or above) maths subjects of which only one subject can be a unit of statistics

CSU's Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours) provides a pathway to further studies at the Doctoral level. The analytical skills and expert knowledge gained through this course are valuable for professionals working in all fields of education. Entry to this course is through the Graduate Certificate in Educational Research which provides an introduction to educational research, an overview of common educational research methods, followed by a more in-depth focus on qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. These subjects prepare students for the 32 point dissertation undertaken for the Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours). Students can undertake this course on campus or by distance education. Students work closely with their supervisor during each stage of the research project, from initial project design to writing the thesis, or dissertation. The Bachelor of Educational Research (Honours) equips students with skills of investigation, analysis, reflection, interrogation of data, and the reporting on the outcome of these processes. Students will develop the capacity to reason, explain and justify and will have the ability to see issues in a wider social context. The course fosters lifelong learning through the pursuit scholarly endeavours and the role of education in addressing issues of equity and social justice. Entry RequirementsApplicants will require a Graduate Certificate in Educational Research, with a Distinction grade or higher in at least two subjects.
