Entry Requirements

Admission will be on the basis of academic qualifications and more specifically will be governed by any one of the following Senate approved regulation:

a) The common regulations of the bachelor’s degree of the University of Nairobi shall be applicable.

b) Holder of KCSE certificate with a minimum aggregate of c+ and a minimum of C in both Mathematics and English/Kiswahili or minimum grade of B in bridging course offered in the University of Nairobi with at least a C- in the subject at KCSE.

c) Holder of KCSE (mean grade C-) plus a Certificate and Diploma from a recognized institution

d) Holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and a minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics at KCE.

e) Holder of a degree from a recognized university.

f) Holder of a diploma from a University of Nairobi Senate recognized institution and a minimum aggregate of C at KCSE or o-level Division III.

g) Holder of CPA/CPS Part II or equivalent professional qualification with a minimum aggregate of C at KCSE or O-Level Division III

h) Holder of qualifications deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.

The Bachelor of Education (Arts) Degree programme is basically intended to prepare teachers for secondary schools. It will also be suitable for people who are involved in educational management and training in tertiary institutions in the public and private sectors. Some subject combinations will also provide competency in Economic Planning, Business and Financial management as well as accounting practices.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must satisfy the University minimum entry requirements.

Either

KCSE C+ and above, or

KACE 2 Principal Pases and above, or

Teacher Training P1 and above, or

Diploma recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate

The Faculty of External studies in conjunction with Faculty of Science will offer Bachelor of Education Science degree in the Department of Educational Studies by distance learning mode.

Entry Requirements

The common regulations for the bachelors degree in the University of Nairobi shall be applicable.

The following shall be admissible into the Bachelor of Education programme.

A holder of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum performance grade of C+ in any two of the subjects to be taken from either of the clusters given below:

Alternative A:

Physics
Chemistry
Mathematics
Biology or Geography or Computer Science

Alternative B:

Physical Sciences
Biological Sciences
Mathematics
Geography/Computer Science

A holder of Kenya Advance Certificate of Education (K ACE) with two principal passes or equivalent.

A holder of professional qualifications such as Diploma in Educational Teachers Certificate (S1) or equivalent.

A trained primary school teacher of P1 grade.

Holder of other degrees from a recognized university.

The department introduced a Bachelor’s degree in Project Planning and Management.

The course in Project Planning and Management has previously been offered at Masters and PhD levels. However, the need for offering the course at Bachelor’s level has been necessitated by appeals from students, parents and organizations looking for personnel for managing their projects at different levels.
