Online Crime Scene Investigation Degree :: Accredited Universities

MSc Top-up This programme allows forensic practitioners who are holders of the Forensic Science Society Diploma to study for an MSc.

From 2010 the Forensic Science Society Diploma was credit rated at 120 credits at postgraduate level. This has allowed the university to offer a “top-up” of the diploma to masters level on the successful completion of a project in either Crime Scene Investigation, Fire Investigation, Firearm Examination and Questioned Documents.

The MSc course in Crime Scene Investigation require the student to carry out a major independent research project in crime scene investigation.
The project can be undertaken in the student’s own laboratories or at the University.
The exact subject of the project is agreed by negotiation with the member of staff who will act as the academic supervisor for the project.
Support for the course is provided by Blackboard which gives details of risk assessments and ethical considerations which have to be in place before the commencement of the project.

The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Major Crime Scene Investigation Procedure is designed to educate students in the methods and techniques of criminal and homicide investigations. Students will learn about the history and scope of forensic sciences, as well as the management of criminal evidence.

Statement of Goals

A statement of your goals reflecting the academic, professional, and personal goals you would like to achieve through your work with Aspen University. Your goals statement will be evaluated by the Admissions Committee as part of the application process. The statement of goals should be between 300 - 500 words.

High School Transcripts

An official high school transcript or its equivalent. Waived if student has completed at least 15 credits of college level course work.

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts for all previous college credit earned.

Prior Criminal Justice Education

Successful completion of fifteen credit hours of criminal justice course work prior to acceptance into the BSCJ program.

Military Documentation (Optional)

A Military ID or DD214 for those who qualify for the military discount program.

Transfer Credit Evaluation (Optional)

Students who have earned college credit may submit a transfer credit evaluation report with corresponding course descriptions, and official transcripts from accredited institutions in order to determine which credits may be applied toward the requirements of a program at Aspen University.

Minimum GPA Requirement

A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 is required for all previous high school or college credit.

Conditional Acceptance

Students will be Conditionally Accepted pending successful completion of CMP160 - English Composition I. Upon successful completion of CMP160 - English Composition I students will be fully Accepted. This requirement is waived for students awarded Transfer Credit for CMP160 - English Composition I.

This program is for students seeking an in-depth scientific study of crime, criminal behavior, crime scene investigation theories, and the importance of scientific analysis as evidence presented in the criminal justice system. Forensic science is the application of scientific methods and analysis of scientific data to support the law. This program focuses on the study of scientific theories and analyzing these theories associated with crime scene investigation techniques. Students will study the theory of forensic science, including the nature and scope of the discipline, the application of forensic science to crime, police investigation and the adjudication process, and the legal and ethical issues associated with forensics. Students will also examine the importance of scientific analysis of physical evidence and its place in the judicial system. Students receive a solid foundation of course work that provides the content and analytical and communication skills required for working in complex criminal justice occupations.

The bachelor’s degree program is open to students who possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.

All students who enroll in the bachelor's degree program must enroll in COLL100 - Foundations of Online Learning as their first course.
