The program explores the various aspects of creating, transmitting and analyzing messages which flow among individuals, groups, organizations and societies. Students may focus on communications courses relating to oral communications and/or mass media communications. Students develop a broad general knowledge of the traditional liberal arts disciplines while developing a greater depth of knowledge in Communications.
Learning Outcomes - Discuss the concepts of mass and personal communication - Prepare mass communication messages in the appropriate style - Apply theories in the use and presentation of images and information - Apply appropriate technology to the creation and dissemination of messages - Demonstrate critical-thinking and problem-solving skills related to a specific communications topic Entry RequirementsYou are eligible to become an undergraduate student at Thomas Edison State College if you are: - An adult 21 years of age or older (unless you are participating in a special college program) - A high school graduate or have successfully passed a General Educational Development (GED) test - The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all applicants whose primary language is not English. A score of 550 on the written; 213 on the computer version; or 79 on the Internet version is required.
