An undergraduate degree (e.g. bachelor) which is considered at least comparable to a UK first or second class honours degree, from an institution acceptable to the University, in a subject appropriate to the course.

An appropriate professional or technical qualification which is considered by the University as at least equivalent to a second class honours degree together with at least three years’ relevant work experience All applications in this category are considered on an individual basis.
Applicants who do not satisfy the above requirements may still be admitted at the discretion of the University on the basis of their academic qualifications, work experience and references.

The Master of Clinical Trials (Research) is a distinctive course, targeted at medical doctors and allied health professionals, which will allow you to acquire the expertise needed to design, develop, lead and conduct clinical trials. The course is led by the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre (CTC), Australia’s premier academic clinical trials research organisation and is specifically focussed on clinical trials design and research methodology.

The course is offered via distance learning. As a result of participation, you will have a solid understanding of clinical trials methodologies underpinning the design of good quality studies, as well as the knowledge to lead and/or design, conduct and appropriately interpret the results of single and multi-centre clinical trials.

This course complements a parallel course developed by Sydney Nursing School, the Master of Clinical Trials Practice. The Master of Clinical Trials Practice is specifically focussed on the practical aspects of conducting clinical trials for nurses and allied health professionals.

A successful applicant for admission to the Master of Clinical Trials (Research) will:
(a) hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification, with a credit average; or

The Master of Science in clinical research management attracts nurses and health care professionals nationally and internationally for advanced education as clinical research professionals in the diverse and complex clinical research industry.
The role of clinical research managers (CRM) is rapidly expanding. The career field is particularly suited for nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals. Health care professionals from fields outside of nursing may complete the curriculum to obtain the MS in CRM, with completion of stated prerequisites. The CRM specialty takes a trans-disciplinary approach in providing an education strong in commercial and fiscal practices of conducting clinical research, ethical and regulatory aspects of research, and overall management of clinical drug, biological, and medical device trials. This program is unique in that it integrates principles of innovation and entrepreneurship for adoption into clinical research.

The program is designed to be flexible and conducive to the adult learner; part-time study is available. This 33-semester-hour program is offered online with an optional two-day orientation program. A six semester-hour capstone clinical research project is required.
