Modes of Study Students can take between 3 and 5 years to complete the course. The average is 3 years, with students taking four modules in the first year, four modules in the second year and the dissertation in the third year. However, depending on candidate's other commitments candidate can take longer up to a maximum of 5 years. Students are supplied with a study pack in the form of text books and CD-ROMs; candidate have assignments to submit and exams to sit each year. Examinations can be taken either at Brunel University or in the country candidate are resident in. We have an extensive network of organisations (Universities, Colleges and British Council Offices) throughout the world who will provide invigilation services. The cost of invigilation away from Brunel is candidate's responsibility. Examinations are held in May each year. Entry RequirementsA UK first or second class Honours degree or equivalent internationally recognised qualification in an engineering; appropriate science or technology discipline. It also provides opportunities for specialisation in one topic through in-depth study during the Research Dissertation module. Entry RequirementsEntry qualifications vary depending on the programme, but generally a good degree from a UK university or equivalent professional qualification from an overseas institution recognised by Loughborough University is required. In some cases those with lower qualifications can gain access when studying by distance-learning. This programme is for graduates with little or no practical experience of emergency infrastructure provision, as well as experienced practitioners who have a specific interest in addressing the problems of emergency infrastructure in low- and middle-income countries. It develops participants’ potential and understanding of the principles and practice of infrastructure provision in emergency situations, equipping them with the appropriate expertise and skills. On completion of the programme participants will be able to: understand the types of disasters, their trends, causes and consequences assess, plan, manage and implement infrastructure provision in emergencies appreciate the range of infrastructure needed by communities affected by emergencies, both during and after the event describe, design, use, operate and maintain the range of technologies generally used in emergency water supply and sanitation work with traumatised populations to deliver essential services
