Online Accounting With Law Degree :: Accredited Universities

This award is a conversion course that will enable students to gain professional qualifications in accounting. It is of particular relevance to non-graduates who are required by the Professional Accounting organisations to complete 16 Unit Masters Program. Such applicants may gain entry via completion of the Graduate Certificate in Accounting with a grade point average of five. The course covers introductory as well as advanced units in financial and management accounting, finance, tax and company law and auditing. It also covers four general business subjects. On successful completion graduates can apply for Associate Membership of the Professional Accounting Organisations. The course is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants.

Entry Requirements

A candidate shall:

(a) have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a degree or qualification of equivalent standing at this or another university or tertiary institution; or

(b) have completed the Graduate Certificate in Accounting or any graduate certificate as approved by the course coordinator; or

(c) have completed the Graduate Diploma in Accounting or any graduate diploma as approved by the course coordinator.

Conduct, tax practice, common law liability to clients and third parties.

- Apply the rules of contract law, the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and real property issues to business situations and solutions

- Develop solutions to problems applicable to the federal taxation of individuals, corporations, partnerships, fiduciaries, estates and gifts

- Apply the techniques of financial statement audits and
Electronic Data Processing (EDP) audits to businesses, and prepare various types of audit reports, as well as other types of reports issued by certified public accountants.

- Analyze the domestic and international micro- and macro-economic principles that affect businesses

- Apply various advanced financial management tools and planning and measurement methodologies to business situations and solutions

- Analyze the financial statement transaction methodologies of for-profit companies, not-for-profits and governmental entities, as well as business combinations

- Demonstrate improved oral and written communication skills in presenting and analyzing financial accounting and reporting information

Entry Requirements

To qualify for admission to an advanced degree program at Strayer University, we require the following credentials:

1. Proof of completion of a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Any undergraduate major will be considered, but if it varies widely from a proposed graduate major, you may need to take certain undergraduate foundation courses.

2. Satisfactory performance in at least one of the following areas:

- A minimum cumulative score of 450 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

- A minimum cumulative score of 1,000 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

- A 2.75 undergraduate grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the junior and senior years of the Baccalaureate degree (that is, the second half of the credits required for the degree, normally the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours).

- Evidence of graduate potential. Special consideration may be given to applicants who show graduate potential and have a minimum of three years of professional or business experience. A personal interview with a Campus Dean is required.

The Faculty of Arts and Education and the Faculty of Business and Law are responsible for this combined course.
The course is designed to meet a demand for graduates with a sound knowledge of the Chinese (Mandarin) language and training in business. It is expected that graduates of the course will have acquired functional competence in the Chinese language for business and related professional purposes; cultural competence to complement linguistic skills and an understanding of the cultural factors influencing Chinese attitudes and trading strategies; an understanding of the Australian and international economic systems; a basic understanding of accounting, economics, finance, marketing, business law, management, business information systems and business statistics; and specialist knowledge and skills in one area of business.

These attributes are strongly supported by employer and government bodies and indicate the wide variety of employment opportunities available.

Students must meet the requirements for entry to both the Bachelor of Arts-major sequence in Chinese and Bachelor of Commerce courses. Year 12 applicants must meet the prerequisite of Units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in English other than EAL.

This award contains eight compulsory units that will enable students without an undergraduate business degree to gain an enhanced understanding of the necessary administrative and management functions required in business management. The course covers introductory units in accounting, economics and law as well as general business units in management processes, marketing and organisational behaviour.
