Entry Requirements

• An affidavit of financial support showing the ability to pay for one full year
• Submit a maximum two-page, double-spaced essay describing your "Sense of Purpose at Ottawa University." Please organize your thoughts around one of the following three components using specific experiences from your life: Personal, Intellectual and Civic/Social
• Established English Proficiency. This can be established by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). TOEFL scores required:

Provide your enrollment counselor with a copy of your state-issued driver's license or a state-issued identification card. This ID must include your photo and be within the expiration date. If you are an international student, contact your enrollment counselor.

Have a minimum undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended.

If your undergraduate GPA is 3.25 or above, the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) requirement may be waived. If your undergraduate GPA is less than 3.25, you must take the GRE and submit your test score to CCU. Scores submitted must be less than two years old. Request that the Educational Testing Service send your original test scores to Colorado Christian University. Our reporting code for the GRE is 4659. (Proof of completion of a post-baccalaureate class, with a passing grade of B or better, at a regionally accredited university may be substituted for the GRE score under some circumstances. The GRE score requirement may be waived under some circumstances.)

The Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction (MSCI) at Concordia University is a 31-credit program designed for an educator who is interested in enhancing their leadership skills in curriculum and instruction, expanding teaching strategies, and becoming a master teacher. Courses introduce a systematic approach to instructional design, which will serve as a necessary foundation for developing needs-based curriculum.
MSCI courses cover the development of curriculum that is aligned with the Michigan Common Core Standards as well as the Michigan Curriculum Framework and Grade Level Content Expectations. The MSCI program helps teachers develop evaluative techniques for improving the quality and effectiveness of instructional curriculum and assessment. Students will learn how to communicate assessment results in order to improve curriculum, instruction, and student learning.

Those who successfully complete the MSCI program at Concordia University will be prepared to effectively lead a school toward meeting the needs of all students. Learned outcomes of the program are based upon current research and best practice through standards based curriculum, assessment, data analysis, and program evaluation. Successful program completion will provide Concordia graduates with skills necessary to lead schools into 21st century education.

Graduates serve as classroom teachers, department heads, principals, superintendents, curriculum specialists, teacher educators, department chairs, researchers, academic vice presidents, and college presidents.

Baccalaureate degree: A four-year degree from an accredited United States institution, or its equivalent from an institution outside the U.S.

Undergraduate GPA: Minimum 2.60 (or 2.75 on the last half of undergraduate courses). The entire student profile is considered during the admissions process; students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirements may also apply.

English proficiency: Students whose language of education is not English must submit a minimum TOEFL or MELAB score of 80.

In an area appropriate to the major emphasis of the specialist or doctoral program from a regionally accredited American university or senior college, or its equivalent from a comparably, recognized institution outside the U.S. Accreditation must be from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or schools outside of the U.S. must have government recognition in the country of origin. Degrees or work received from institutions generally considered to be diploma/degree mills are not evidence of prior academic work.
