Show More While all computer scientists analyze clients’ needs in order to design, test, and develop software to meet those needs, there are two specialties available to software developers: computer applications and computer systems. Computer applications software engineers - develop applications software, typically in the C, C++ and Java languages. About 60% of computer software engineers specialize in applications software. Computer systems software engineers – experts in analyzing the software and infrastructure needs of an organization and then coordinating the construction, expansion, and implementation of the solutions. They may also work for a design house as a member of a team that is assigned to a special project for a client. Software engineers rely heavily on the ability to analyze and evaluate technical data. Professionals in this field must have a strong aptitude for mathematics and reasoning, a keen attention to detail, and interpersonal skills in order to work as part of a team and communicate technical details to clients in layman terms. Entry RequirementsAn applicant must have a high school diploma or the equivalent. The University recognizes the following A GED A certificate demonstrating that the student has passed a state-authorized examination (for example, the California High School Proficiency Exam) that the state recognizes as the equivalent of a high school diploma. Note that certificates of attendance and/or completion are not included in this qualifying category. An academic transcript of a student who has successfully completed at least a two-year program that is acceptable for full credit toward a bachelor’s degree (i.e., an associate’s degree).
International Admissions Requirements An I-20 document is required, and will be issued once you meet the University’s general undergraduate admissions requirements and provide the following information: A certified copy of your high school and college transcripts evaluated by a transcript evaluation service approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). All documents, diplomas, and transcripts not written in English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. ACT/SAT scores or transcripts from post-secondary coursework applicable for placement into the intended program. This document will replace entrance exams, which Herzing University does not administer beyond the U.S. and Canada. You may also be required to pay for a professional evaluation of your transcripts. A notarized statement of financial support or a certified government sponsor letter indicating that tuition will be paid in advance of each term (tuition for the first two semesters is due upon enrollment), and that all necessary living expenses will be provided. (Use form I-134 available online from the BCIS.) Proof of English-language proficiency through one of the following:
