Students may specialise in one of the following majors while retaining some flexibility to combine units across the majors.
Marine Conservation Graduates will demonstrate maximum value to employers in management and leadership roles in areas including industry and government science policy, or roles as science communicators and industry or environmental advocates. The Masters course builds on the base skills and knowledge developed initially across 8 coursework units to expose students to independent, research-based study through which research problem-solving skills are developed. A defined research project under the supervision of one or more National Centre staff is completed across a 1 semester (or two semester - Masters with Honours J7V) duration. Entry RequirementsCandidates for the degree will require the approval of the National Centre Director and will have obtained a Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification at another approved tertiary institution. Students with degrees in environmental management, wildlife management, environmental economics, ecological economics, environmental law, marine affairs, marine science, environmental science or related disciplines (e.g., Fisheries, Aquaculture, Marine Conservation or equivalent) from other universities will be accepted for entry. Students will be expected to have demonstrable experience in aquatic science. Students without this experience may be required to undertake remedial study.
