The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care degree with the choice of concentration in Advanced Clinical Practice or Respiratory Care Management provides students with the necessary skills to advance into a supervisory/management, patient education, clinical specialist, case management or advanced clinical practitioner position in various healthcare facilities (e.g. hospital, clinic, medical office, home care, LTC) or in an environment specific to the field of respiratory care

The curriculum contains information on management, advanced clinical care, and current issues and trends in healthcare, exposing students to the latest developments in respiratory care. The program includes a general education component, a foundation in cardiopulmonary sciences, and coursework in the respiratory care specialties of acute and critical care, emergency care, perinatal and pediatrics, research and Evidence Based Medicine (EMB), patient education, case management and cardiopulmonary diagnostics.

Entry Requirements

Students seeking admission to the Bachelor of Science in Health Science program must be a graduate of an associate’s degree level, health sciences program (i.e., medical assisting, respiratory therapy, nurse education,
surgical technology, etc.) from an accredited institution or have completed sufficient college credit to attain the equivalent of an associate’s degree in the discipline of health science. Prospective students should also have
completed an appropriate number of credit hours of general education (e.g., 15 semester credit hours and 22.5 quarter credit hours).

International Applicants

Applicants to an undergraduate associate’s or bachelor’s program must provide an official or attested transcript of completed high school work translated into English and certified to be at least equivalent to the credential required by the college in its admissions criteria. This policy also applies to any student with previous education completed outside of the United States.

2.Applicants must provide evidence of English proficiency in one of the following ways: (i) minimum TOEFL score of 550 or 213 computer based or 79 IBT based or (ii) 6.0 on IELTS.

These procedures are vital in diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders, diagnosis of nervous system disorders, as well as aiding in the diagnosis of behavioral, and psychiatric disorders. New technologies have stimulated a great demand for advanced level professionals. The Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science (NDSS) program represents advanced study in Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science. Coursework includes: Advanced practice in neurodiagnostic and sleep science; Principles of education for leaders

Philosophy and application of scientific research;Philosophy and principles of laboratory management, healthcare administration, and finance. The program is offered via distance education and may be pursued under part-time status. The UNC Charlotte Department of Kinesiology, in collaboration with the UNC Chapel Hill Department of Allied Health Sciences, offers this unique advanced curriculum. Graduates of the NDSS program benefit from the unique curricula, which reflect the ever-changing nature of clinical practice and patient care.
