The Post-Bacc DNP offers three pathways for obtaining nurse practitioner certification and licensure:
Family Nurse Practitioner Entry RequirementsA bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) from bachelor’s level courses of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale An official transcript from every college and university and/or nursing program attended (only courses from accredited institutions will be accepted) Curriculum vitae (CV). Three letters of recommendation. (sent from within the online application) - Two must be from a colleague/supervisor who is able to evaluate current competency in nursing and the candidate’s potential for advanced practice (clinical or leadership depending on area of practice) at the most advanced level. - Applicants are strongly encouraged to have one letter from a former college/university nursing professor who can attest to the candidate’s potential for academic success in a doctoral program. - Letters must be signed and on letterhead. Recommendation letters will be uploaded through the online application portal by the recommender. A 500-word personal statement that addresses: - Reasons for pursuing a DNP degree and how Gonzaga University’s DNP program will prepare the candidate to meet his or her professional goals - Personal and professional strengths - Professional experiences - Interest in specific track within DNP program (FNP, PMHNP, or A/GNP) Current Registered Nurse license GRE exam scores (completed within the last five years). See the Test Preparation page for more information. Non-native English speakers are required to provide proof of English proficiency. Gonzaga accepts the following: - Score of 6.5 or better on the IELTS - Official TOEFL score of at least 88 ibt or 580 pbt If you would like to petition for transfer of credits from another doctoral program please fill out the Permission to Transfer Graduate Credits form through the Registrar’s office and submit with accompanying syllabus or course description and official transcripts – students may transfer up to 15 credits (for post-baccalaureate DNP pathway) from an accredited doctoral program.
