The Bachelor of Nursing equips graduates with the key knowledge and skills necessary for the practice of nursing. Students who successfully complete 6 trimesters of full-time study (or part time equivalent) exit with a Bachelor of Nursing and eligibility to seek Registered Nurse status with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a professional nurse in Australia and by mutual recognition in New Zealand. The course aims to give graduates an appreciation of the value of life-long learning and a firm foundation for further study at a postgraduate level. In addition, students who hold an un-restricted Enrolled Nurse qualification registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) who enter at the beginning of the second year of the course and successfully complete two years of full-time study may receive a Bachelor of Nursing and eligibility for Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Students may commence study in Trimester 1 of the first year of the course. During the first two trimesters they will undertake Science for Nursing and Foundations of Nursing units, which will be offered via blended learning in the on-campus mode only. This study mode consists of fully on-campus face-to-face teaching of all theory and clinical skills and off-campus clinical placements of 120 hours for Trimester 1 and 120 hours for Trimester 2.
