While a bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement for most accountant and auditor positions, employers prefer applicants with a master's degree in accounting, or with a master's degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting. An MBA in Accounting is valuable in opening the door to top-paid positions in such highly competitive fields as financial management and financial analysis. It also provides the credentials needed to teach business classes at community colleges or career education schools. Public Accountant Entry Requirements1. Prior Degree Requirement: Prospective graduate students must have completed a bachelor’s or graduate degree from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or have completed a three- or four-year bachelor’s degree at a foreign college or university recognized as degree-granting by the government of that country. Students must have a bachelor's degree with a major in business or a related discipline to be admitted to this MBA program. Program Grade Point Average (PGPA): Prospective graduate students must have achieved a PGPA of 2.70 or better for all undergraduate courses attempted or a PGPA of 3.00 or better for at least 6.00 semester credit hours of graduate study, as evidenced by an official transcript from each college or university attended. 3.
