Master of Marketing

CSU's Master of Marketing provides an in-depth program for professionals from marketing and other areas who are looking to enhance their marketing knowledge and skills and respond to changes in the marketing environment.

A comprehensive range of marketing subjects is offered with some flexibility to enable students to tailor their program to their particular needs. The program is designed to enable students to draw on their workplace experience and enhance their marketing practice through engagement with theoretical frameworks and emerging debates in the marketing discipline.

Upon completion of CSU's Master of Marketing, graduates will be able to:

design and implement marketing programs across all types of marketing environments

specify, evaluate and interpret information used for addressing marketing problems

link their marketing disciplinary knowledge with knowledge in other fields of business and enact this knowledge in specific workplace situations

adapt their marketing disciplinary knowledge in a range of subjects areas to the changing marketing environment.

Applicants are required to have an undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution (or a qualification deemed to be equivalent) and two years' work experience in marketing or a business related area.

The Master of Marketing is a specialist, professional course for graduates who have not studied marketing previously. It provides a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of marketing and the application of this knowledge to various areas of marketing practice. The course lets students concentrate on their studies in marketing and build skills in market research and data analysis, as well as in specialised areas such as customer service, online marketing and international marketing.

Distinctive electives are available in sports marketing, arts marketing and public relations. The course has a particular emphasis on online, services and international marketing. Deakin's Master of Marketing gives particular emphasis to services and international marketing.

Entry Requirements

Completion of a tertiary program equivalent to not less than 4 years of full-time study at a university or other approved educational institution, or completion of a tertiary program equivalent to not less than 3 years of full-time study at a university or other educational institution and 3 years relevant work experience, or for those without a degree. a graduate diploma in a cognate area plus 5 years minimum relevant work experience. Normally applicants will not be granted Credit for Prior Learning towards the 8 credit point masters.

This Coursework Masters is designed to develop and educate managers and to provide the skills necessary to create value for an organisation, their customer, their partners and society at large. Equips students with the skills and knowledge required for a career in customer, product, brand and revenue management.

Provides students with the skills to research the needs of customers bring products to market, manage channel partners and manage customer satisfaction and loyalty. Specifically, this course equips students with the skills, theory and practical experience to audit a market, identify opportunities and create, implement and manage a marketing plan. The course explores marketing at a local, national and international level.

Entry Requirements

Bachelor degree or qualification equivalent to AQF level 7 plus 3 years appropriate and/or relevant, supervisory or managerial work experience, which must be signed off by the Programme Director; or evidence of post-secondary prior learning, including five years of appropriate and/or relevant supervisory or managerial work experience, which must be signed off by the Programme Director.

• Students who hold a recognized first degree and who wish to obtain an AU undergraduate degree in a different subject area, must apply under the second undergraduate degree regulations.
• The degree conversion provision is available to Athabasca University students who have been awarded a three-year AU degree and wish to convert to a four-year degree.
• Students are not permitted to obtain a second undergraduate degree in the same field or related field as their first undergraduate degree. Those students who hold an international undergraduate degree who wish to obtain a Canadian credential, or those students who wish to obtain another Bachelor’s degree in a major different that their first undergraduate degree, will be permitted (in consultation with the Program Director and reviewed by the Office of the Registrar).
