Show More The content is identical to our LLB programme taught on campus, except it allows you to study remotely from anywhere in the world. This flexibility makes it ideal for students in full or part-time work, as there are no face-to-face lectures to attend. The degree is delivered exclusively online with formal examinations sat at a designated centre near you. You will develop a thorough grounding in the foundation of English law whilst gaining the legal skills and academic grounding to embark on the next stage of legal training, as well as developing a suite of transferable skills.
Entry RequirementsFor the LLB we normally make offers on around 300 tariff points and for the BA Honours Law we normally make offers on around 260 tariff points (or less if you only have two A levels) plus GCSE Maths and English Language at grade C or above. Advanced & Progression Diplomas at Equivalent to above. As we have a common first year for the LLB and BA Honours Law, it is possible for students who have achieved particularly strong marks to transfer from the BA Honours Law to the LLB at the end of their first year. We accept the equivalent of the above from a recognised overseas qualification, to find out more about the requirements from your country, see further information under "http://www.mdx.ac.uk/international/students/support/index.aspx". For details of other equivalent requirements that Middlesex accepts see "http://www.mdx.ac.uk/international/students/apply/entry/index.aspx".

Show More The linked award structure of our distance learning LLM programmes gives students flexibility in their studies. Students enrol on and complete each stage of the programme, all of which are at Masters level, before choosing to move onto the next stage or choosing to exit with the relevant award. The stages are Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and LLM. Each part of the programme is treated as a separate and distinct award – successful completion of the 60 credit Postgraduate Certificate stage, comprising three modules, is therefore an entry requirement for the Postgraduate Diploma stage and successful completion of the 60 credit Postgraduate Diploma stage, comprising three modules, is an entry requirement for the LLM stage. Completion of all three stage leads to the award of LLM. This Masters programme offers flexibility and choice to students and will appeal to a broad range of people whether employed in the legal sector or who have an interest in specific aspects of legal areas which are relevant to their employment or personal development. Students can tailor their Masters programme to meet their own interests and aspirations. Students can choose to study subjects from a whole range of modules offered across the Law School’s other LLM programmes. Students must study a total of six modules and undertake a research project to be awarded an LLM. The programme will commence with a module in Legal Research and Study Skills to allow students to develop the necessary skills to successfully complete the programme assessments. The Legal Research and Study Skills module involves group work (face to face or on line depending upon whether the student is studying full time or by distance learning) and peer review of formative written work. There is no end point assessment. Instead, students are required to participate in a series of tasks. We have designed the legal research module in such a way to enable students to obtain feedback from tutors throughout the module, and to learn with and from their fellow students. We believe that group work as a means by which students can together discuss and practise the key legal skills that underpin future LLM studies is the best way for students to learn legal research. By reviewing each other’s work students are able to better identify areas for improvement in their own work and to better understand the assessment criteria. This is not the only way in which students will be taught on the programme however. Students will study the majority of the later modules independently, completing individual assignments.
The Project
Students wishing to gain the LLM must complete a researched project of 15,000 – 17,000 words on a related area of law. Completion of the project enables students to explore a particular topic, of their own choosing, to a much greater degree. Entry RequirementsAll of our Masters programmes (with the exception of the LLM Advanced Legal Practice) are open to lawyers and non-lawyers. The standard entry requirements for the programmes are either a degree in law or another discipline from a UK university or other relevant professional qualifications. Students may also be considered for enrolment on certain programmes if they can demonstrate sufficient work related experience.
International/English Language Requirements: International applicants are required to have one of the following English language qualifications with grades as shown below. A British Council International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking of 5.5 Pearson Academic score of 62 (or above) with a minimum score in each component of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking of 51 The University also accepts many other English language qualifications and if you have any questions about our English Language requirements please contact the International Admissions Office and we will be glad to assist you.
