The Master of Health Management provides the learning material and experiences for students to develop the core knowledge and skills required of health managers. Learning material from international and national sources of referenced work and public policy is delivered by academics who have worked in and researched health systems. The learning material is brought to life by interactive processes to access the students' life experiences, develop group participation and engender skill development. The course is delivered on and off campus in full and part-time modes for flexibility to balance life, work and study. The course delivery is supplemented by optional face-to-face seminars, workshops etc. Students will complete their study program with a capstone unit in which they consolidate their theoretical learning of health management with a 'real world' action research project. Non-mandatory intensive schools in each trimester allow students to engage and network informally. The course provides in-depth study of health management and is delivered full-time on campus to allow fast completion for domestic and international students.

Entry Requirements

A candidate shall have relevant professional experience/qualifications in a health related area approved by the school and either:

(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor degree in a relevant health management discipline from a recognised university; or

(b) hold an AQF Level 7 degree and an AQF Level 8 graduate certificate/graduate diploma in a relevant health management discipline from a recognised university; or

(c) hold an AQF Level 7 degree in a different discipline from a recognised university; or

(d) hold an AQF Level 8 graduate certificate/graduate diploma in a different discipline of a recognised university.

These distance learning awards aim to develop a theoretical underpinning to health management and health policy. The programmes support the critical analysis, evaluation and reflection of contemporary issues in health systems and services through the analysis of case studies and practical application of theory to pertinent work-based issues.

The awards will be delivered by distance learning involving access to materials and staff online which will enable you to engage with your studies at a time and location convenient for you. The dissertation will enable you to consider a key management and/or policy issue primarily through desk-based research, although where possible, empirical study will be fully supported.
